Case Studies

Retail

MCDONALD'S (NORWAY)

McDonald’s has a big database for food labels they use daily. All foods with expiration dates need labels when taken from the freezer. In busy times, their label printer might also break and need replacing. They chose Brother’s TD-2130N label printer with a separate LCD touch display as The clear display makes operating easier, cutting down time searching. They can even add images to labels and store frequently used labels as ‘hot keys’ on the display. And if the printer drops, they can replace the display unit without getting a whole new printer, thus saving costs.

MCDONALD'S (SPAIN)

McDonald’s Spain used desktop printers in their kitchens to print food labels as needed, but lacked proper software to meet their needs. This made their daily operations difficult and resulted in incomplete labels for controlling food processes. They decided to add Brother’s TD-2120N label printer to their digital solution which allowed their staff to print labels when needed, making processes smoother with the new software. This boosted productivity, reduced labeling errors, and allow their data to be stored and monitored in the cloud for easy access.

Logistics

DESPEC NORDIC HOLDING A/S

“Previously, Despec warehouses did not have many product locations and labelling requirements were not very high.”, said Thomas Harboe Hald, General Manager, Information Systems & Marketing at Despec. Despec was using different types of labelling by hand. When they implemented a new Warehouse Management System, with more product locations being added, there was a demand for accurate and high-quality labelling. Hence, Despec required an unified solution that is user-friendly and could handle barcodes.

Despec – Dealer SPECialist was the first distributor in the Nordic countries to distribute computer and printer supplies (ink, toner, and ribbons).

They require a lot of labels because their warehouses are large with close to 9,000 inventory items and a few thousand special order items, the need for precise, clear and durable labeling has become important which is why the Brother’s P-touch label printer integrated with PC and P-touch Editor software was chosen for the job.

Visitor Management

IVENUTO.COM CORPORATION

In many companies globally, lobbies had loose-leaf binders for sign-ins. Managing this was tough, with pages often lost, risking customer safety.

Handwritten details were also unclear, complicating visitor tracking and operations. This affected the company’s image and customer perception. So, iVenuto.com needed a wireless label printer for their automated reception to create clear visitor badges with info and photos, thus ensuring better visitor management.

Chosen for their wireless feature and dependable performance, Brother’s QL-710W and QL-720NW label printers seamlessly fit the automated reception process. Labels can be printed from anywhere, enhancing the welcoming experience for visitors through the ZAP IN system.

The QL-710W and QL-720NW models have now been upgraded to the QL-820NWB as part of their reception process enhancement.

Education

GOOD SCHOOL TOOLS

GSTools create apps that simplify routine school tasks using school information systems. Tardiness is a big issue in schools and late students are given tardiness slips. The old process of handwritten slips was slow and unreliable, so the app automates this, ensuring accurate records and saving time. It also lets school staff and administrators easily access student info, helping them monitor students virtually. Teachers and staff can identify missing students in their classrooms, ensuring control as well as providing fast access to emergency contacts and generating reports.

Brother’s QL-820NWB Professional label printer has built-in wireless capability for printing from anywhere. It’s favored for its speed, and high-resolution output. The automatic cutter ensures precise cuts, and refilling supplies is fast. The printer even offers two-color label printing (red and black) for highlighting important details like emergencies. Also, the optional rechargeable battery enhances mobility, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during power outages. Many school staff and administrators trust GS Tools and Brother’s Professional label printers help them deliver reliable results, creating tardiness slips, student IDs, and emergency info quickly and accurately.

Healthcare

UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS BRISTOL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust serves over 500,000 patients in the UK across 72 healthcare facilities with over a thousand beds.

They aim to upgrade their order communications system so that they can improve their speed and productivity and care for as many people as possible. And to simplify their ordering of supplies, they’re looking to streamline their label printers, which can be quite challenging to find the right product that can accommodate all their needs.

They have chosen over 300 Brother TD-2130N label printers to replace previous units from another brand in their hospitals. These seamlessly integrate with patient record systems and label printing for blood samples. These same units serve various labeling needs, reducing label types and simplifying replacement labels. As they use thermal printing, no ink or toner replacements are needed. The printers were pre-configured to allow plug-and-play setup, working well with their hand-in-glove order and communication devices. This makes label creation and printing simple and convenient for staff.

GENESIS CABLING

Bill Lenz, RCDD, a BICSI-registered Technician, former BICSI instructor and vice president of sales at Genesis Cabling, has tested on Brother’s PT-E110VP electronic labeller and has concluded that it could immensely help contractors. The PT-E110VP electronic labeller was chosen for cable installers because it meets their tough demands. Its handheld and rugged design works well in rough environments and crews can easily print durable labels on-site, quickly and accurately, without needing a manual, boosting efficiency and productivity.

The PT-E110VP electronic labeller is designed to meet cable installers’ tough demands and boost productivity on-site. Asset Management

RAIL CARRIER

A large national rail carrier provides passenger train service across the USA and Canada. Managing security camera assets across their nationwide network was challenging as centralized asset management clashed with the need for tagging and labeling at many scattered sites. Each asset has unique identifiers and data points, making it complex to handle. Barcode numbers were manually entered into a spreadsheet for labels which was error-prone and costly. They required a cheap, simple, and efficient solution for QR code labeling that’s reliable, scalable, accurate, and manageable by one person.

Now, their central office can efficiently manage asset tagging from one place. They use Brother’s PT-E550WVP electronic labeler, the Transfer Express app, and P-touch Editor software. If changes are needed, they use P-touch Editor with the imported database.

This can be emailed to their location’s receiver for accurate label printing on PT-E550WVP. Over 150 of these labelers have been deployed across locations for effective asset management.
